CT Mirage 14u Black will be holding tryouts for the 2015 season on Wednesday, August 6th and Friday, August 8th at Cheshire Park on Rt. 10/Highland Ave in Cheshire, CT. This is a brand-new team that is looking to fill its roster with motivated players who are entering 9th grade this September. Head Coach Brian Jacobs and Associate Head Coach Samantha Cieri (see below for coach’s bio’s) are seeking out players with the determination to be an impact player at the high school level as freshmen and who desire to play softball at the college level.

Tryouts for pitchers and catchers will begin at 6pm (registration begins at 5:30) on Wednesday, August 6th. Tryouts for position players will begin at 7pm (registration at 6:30pm). Callback tryouts will be held on Friday August 8th, and any player who wishes to try out but cannot make it to the primary tryouts on is welcome to attend as well.

For the 2014-2015 season, the team’s player development plan includes offseason workouts and league play during the fall and winter as well as entry into approximately 8 tournaments in and around New England during the 2015 summer season, including up to 3 showcase tournaments.

Coach’s Bios:

Head Coach Brian Jacobs
Coach Jacobs has nearly 10 years’ experience coaching Fastpitch softball and baseball at various levels. He has been a coach with Mirage for the past 4 years, including serving as a head coach at the 16u and 18u level. Currently, he serves as the head coach at Wilton High School and plays infield for the CT Devils of the Greater Hartford Independent Baseball League.

Associate Head Coach Samantha Cieri
Coach Cieri has been an assistant coach with Mirage for the past three years, including two years with the New England Mirage Gold showcase team. After completing her collegiate career as an outfielder for the Div. I Central Connecticut State University Blue Devils, Coach Cieri joined the faculty at Cheshire Academy where she led the Fighting Cats to a WNEPSAC Championship in her first season as head softball coach.
